Twenty-two works by fifteen regional artists will be on display for Westmaryginiasylvanington: Regional Juried Exhibition, in the Hodson Gallery in the Tatem Arts Center at Hood College from July 27 through Aug. 30. The opening reception will be July 27 and the closing reception will be Aug. 29; both will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. in the gallery, which is open daily from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. During the opening reception the juror, Andrea Pollan, to begin at 5:30pm. Juried by Andrea Pollan, director of Curator’s Office in Washington, D.C., this exhibition features artworks in drawing, installation, painting, performance, photography, printmaking, and sculpture by artists who live within 50 miles of Frederick.

Pollan has worked for more than 20 years in the visual fine arts. Trained as an art historian at Yale University, she has organized more than 90 exhibitions of contemporary art for museums and galleries regionally and nationally. She has written numerous catalogs and exhibition brochures, and has juried scores of art exhibitions and art fairs in the region, including an exhibition at the Corcoran Gallery of Art. She manages several corporate art collections and has broadened that focus recently to include several private collections.

Pollan received an arts administration fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts in 1994. She has served on numerous boards and recently served on the board of the D.C. Chapter of ArtTable, a national association of women arts administrators.
